Meet Mrs. halperin
All About Mrs. Halperin
My name is Lauren Halperin and this is my 16th year teaching, and my 14th year teaching here at Henking (Boy it has flown by!). I have taught full day kindergarten, first grade and second grade. I have to say that first grade is my favorite. The amount of growth that I see in first graders is insurmountable! I received my bachelor’s degree from Wright State University in early childhood education, and I earned my master’s degree in reading and Reading Specialist certificate from Concordia University of Chicago.
I grew up in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago and attended Fremd High School. My father taught high school for over 30 years, so teaching is definitely in my genes! I have a silly little girl named Maya (almost 6) who is loads of fun and a wild little boy named Ari (2 years). I have had a lot of fun this summer watching them play together, going for bike rides and runs, and checking out all of the forest preserves near our house. One of my absolute favorite things to do is read. I look forward to helping your child develop a deep love of books and reading as much as I do. I love teaching young children and feel very blessed that I get to go to work looking forward to each and everyday.
